Miami-Dade Commissioner Raquel Regalado hosting a roundtable to raise awareness of homelessness among senior citizens. South Miami Mayor Javier Fernandez says his city has been working with the Homeless Trust on the functional zero initiative. He says the recent shutdown and loss of SNAP benefits left many seniors choosing between paying for rent, groceries or medicine. The roundtable is being held at Chapman Partnership South in Homestead, currently providing support to more than seven hundred seniors.
